Animated Up breaks barriers at Cannes fest

Come May 13, I'll be sitting in the Palais des Festivals at the Cannes Film Festival looking like a geek, along with the rest of the audience.

We'll be wearing the goofy glasses needed to view the 3D presentation of Up, the new Disney-Pixar production that has been selected as the fest's gala opener.

Yesterday's announcement marked two firsts: never before has an animated movie, or one filmed in 3D, opened Cannes, the world's most prestigious film festival.
